Bringing History to Life: The NSW Parliament Timeline by Look

With nearly four decades of shaping visual experiences, we've learned that the most impactful displays do more than just inform – they captivate. Our recent work on the NSW Parliament Timeline Exhibition is a perfect example. In partnership with X Squared, we had the unique privilege of collaborating on the design, build, and installation of an immersive journey through history within the very walls of the NSW Parliament.

A Journey Through Time: Scope and Scale

This project was an opportunity to bring the rich legacy of NSW's legislative journey to life in an engaging, immersive way for the public.

Spanning an impressive 720 square meters, this installation isn't just a display; it's an experience. It carefully guides visitors through pivotal moments in the state's history, showcasing how thoughtful design can truly engage and educate. Seeing the history unfold across such a significant area vividly demonstrates the power that a well-executed visual communication can have.

Crafting the Narrative: Features and Fabrication

To create such a dynamic and detailed historical narrative, we leveraged a diverse range of materials and innovative techniques. The goal was to add depth, texture, and a modern touch to the historical account:

• Printed Fabrics & Various Rigid Substrates: We used a combination of high-quality printed fabrics and other rigid materials to add layers, texture, and visual interest, ensuring each historical segment stood out.
• Custom Built Plinths, Pillars & Acrylic Tops and Boxes: Our custom fabrication expertise truly shone here. We designed and built elegant plinths, sturdy pillars, and precision-engineered acrylic tops and boxes to securely house and highlight artifacts and information, adding a sophisticated touch to the display.
• Light Boxes & Digital Screens: To enhance the storytelling and ensure key moments truly resonated, we integrated modern light boxes and dynamic digital screens. These elements illuminate important facts and provide interactive content, drawing visitors deeper into the narrative.

This project perfectly showcased Look Group's comprehensive capabilities, from initial design and intricate fabrication to precise large format printing and seamless installation. Every element was meticulously planned and executed to create a cohesive and impactful experience.
